Amazon Basics sound deadener

Woot has this for $35. 36sq ft and includes the roller. Anyone every use it? And is it even worth it with a soft top and half doors?

I cant speak on that specific product as I used Noico for mine, But it will help for sure, just wont be as noticeable compared with a hardtop on the sound aspect.

The big area where that material will help would be with vibrations in body panels, which will help quiet things down but the benefit isn't from a sound barrier, if that makes sense? For that you would layer a sound barrier on top of this material. I personally wouldn't put that much effort into a jeep with a soft top and half doors.

From reviews on the page it seems some people haven't gotten a roller and that this is 50 mil thickness so it is thinner than the Noico stuff I used.

At that price it's definitely a good value, just can't speak to the quality.

I used “hotheads” it’s butyl rubber based with a metallic backer. That doesn’t appear to be butyl rubber. I have a piece of the hot heads left if you want to compare them in person.

Anyway, I used Noico, so I can't comment on the Amazon product. If you live in an area where rust is an issue, be sure you leave some 'tracks' so that water doesn't get trapped under the product, accelerating your rust.

I was more concerned about heat from the transmission tunnel, but the Jeep is now noticeably quieter as well.

Right, I did about 75% of mine with the butyl layer and then put a 157mil layer on top of that. In the trunk area I used a 315 mil piece. Really makes a difference with a hardtop. Definitely think it’s worth the money.

Luckily I don’t have to worry about rust much so I rolled everything down flat.

Two more questions. 1) any issues fitting under bedrug and then weathertecs on top? 2) what happens when it gets wet, if/when the tub gets wet, do I need to worry about water getting trapped under the sound mat?

I have the 80 mil Noico butyl layer, a 157mil foam sound insulation layer, then the bed rug and then weather techs ontop. No issue. Just a tight fit around the shifter.

I go through deep water crossings pretty often and do get water inside. I just take out the drain plug and it doesn’t create much of an issue. I have pulled the layers up and relaid them down to check underneath to be sure there wasn’t any issue and never found anything of concern. Now that being said if I lived in an area with rust being a problem, I’d definitely be much more cautious about that.

No. I have bed rug over mine, and I didn’t splurge for weathertech’s in the Jeep but the quadatec mats I bought for $60 are a similar laser cut and they fit just fine and don’t slide.

When I added Noico + mass-loaded vinyl (the barrier) to the bed of the back, I did have trouble getting my rear seat to latch again. Just had to smoosh down the vinyl for a while and now it works fine again.

For water concerns, there is a pic somewhere on here (maybe mine; can't remember) of how folks put the Noico down in areas except where the floorboards already have water tracks/troughs leading to the drain plugs. Then the drain channels can still work. Hope that makes sense.
