Why is an untastefully modified vehicle worth sticker price 14 years later?
Who said there was an issue? I just said they were ugly.Bumpers? Anyone looking for an LJR should know how easy it is to buy and install factory bumpers. Cant believe that is an issue at all.
Ok ok ok lol. So is it dumb to pay 17-20k for a tj and drop 20k in mods? Or is it just dumb to pay the total amount upfront as opposed to losing way more money along the way? Just trying to figure this out hahaha.

The stock LJR is going to be worth more. Then you have a fully modified TJ versus having a stock LJR with shitty bumpers. You are comparing apples to oranges. You aren't paying any total amount upfront.
The stock LJR is going to be worth more.
That’s all that matters. We all have opinions. If somebody wants to spend 20k on a 14k dollar value TJ they can do that. Is it a good idea? Well that’s up to the person that owns the Jeep I guess.I know what I would choose.

Why even bother adding anything up in life? You're going to die one day anyways, aren't you? Where is your money going once your dead?
If you have kids, then there's something to think about, but if not, you'd probably just be better off enjoying life and indulging in a hobby, even if it's an expensive one.
I'm an idiot with my Jeep spending, but at least I already have retirement accounts and education accounts for kids I don't have. I can convince myself that that means I'm responsible enough
My thought is that if you can be responsible, save money, pay bills, and never be late on your payments, then there's no reason not to have a hobby.
Of course you have to pick and choose. I've found that too many of the things I enjoy are very expensive things, so I had to narrow it down to just a few (in this case it's Jeeps and guitars / banjos). My wife thinks we should get a boat, a Polaris RZR, wave runners, etc. I told her she's out of her damn mind, the Jeep hobby as it is is expensive enough!
