Another HI-Lift post

My Jeep came with a like-new high-lift jack. I put mounts on the hood and went out with it twice only, never did again. I think their primary function is decoration. I grew up with vehicles all having smaller versions so I am very conversant with the inherent safety risks. I pulled the hood mounts off, nie wieder! As I wheel in the sand, a shovel is more useful than a jack and if I have to change a tire, the bottle jack works just fine, even with a tall Jeep. Seeing the mounts gone is quite oddly pleasing. Felt so good, I replace the instrument lights with bluish LEDs. The sled got pampered today.

I keep a high lift on my tj the last 12 years, but i’ve Used it to pull more fence posted than anything else, when used carefully they are a value able tool, I’ve seen morons bend them and I was a long ways away from that one.

I too live in the desert, but never go wheelin without mine. Some of the things that are great is you can jack up your whole front or back of the jeep and push it over, so if you are stuck in a sandy rut, you can put a pad underneath and lift your wheels out of the hole then push it off the jack.

I have also bent a steering rod, and used two of them to bend the rod back on a trail fix. I have also used it as a come-along in desperate situations. As @T Crawford mentioned, it can be a useful tool. It is just another layer of tools for me just in case. You can push, pull, stretch or squish with it. I have used it for many things.
