Another TJ on 37s thread

No issues man. Tough crowd lol. But seriously, no issues. Cant beat the deal on blackmagicbrakes so Im going big. Im actually still stuck on lifts. Looks is great but I dont like going back and forth every month tightening squeeking bolt on brackets. Still looking at the two. I like that gold looking shit of metalcloak. No lie man.

The comment or reply was to why would he have suggested a 13.5 rim instead of the 12.5 rim. Thats just what was said.
The comment was referring to a 37x13.5 tire being a slightly better choice for a 12” wide rim than a 37x12.5 tire. You definitely wouldn’t want a 13.5” wide rim. I would never buy a rim wider than 10” in the first place

Well those wheels leave plenty of room for big brakes. So there's that at least! :D

Its a 13.5" tire on a 12.5 rim.

I have a buddy who daily drives a JKU on 40s with 3.21 gears. Dana 30 front. No issues cruising town or whatever... is it something I would do? Absolutely not. Is it my money or time? Also no. I think he’s crazy but he loves every minute of it. Enjoy your build, have fun and show us pictures.

Ill get a new battery for the scale and re-weigh. No way thats 110 lbs. If it is, then I got a whole lot weaker or 110 lbs got a whole lot heavier. Barely got this tire/rim combo into the back of the dually by myself. Re-thinking alot now. Tell me about 5:13`s and highway driving with a measured 36" tire. Im all ears

For 37's, you have two logical choices for gears:

5.13 - better for highway (still good for wheeling)
5.38 - better for offroad

5.38 is not an option anyway for a Dana 30. Only Dana 44 and larger.

The best advice I've ever gotten for picking gears is: Figure out what gears you want, then go one lower (higher number).

He doesn't care. He will do whatever he wants to do.

So whats so horrible about them? Seriously, ellaborate. These tires are designed NOT to have road noise. Important part of MY build. Looks is my thing. Aggressive look without actually being aggressive. If I was to ride in a vehicle with lets say thornbirds, Id probably kill someone after 30 mins. That or Id have to get out and consume some beer.

In my experience on the street they are squeally tires that lose traction sooner than they ought to. In the rain and snow, they are slightly better than racing slicks.

Off-road doesn't matter in your case, but they don't grip any better than an slightly aggressive all terrain. I needed to heavily groove them to make them grab. Then recently I tore off a huge group of lugs on the rocks. They also seem to be wearing quickly in the 4 months I have had them. This is ridiculous since they don't grab despite being soft.

I also think they are silly looking tire. But Metalcloak seems to like them, so they must be awesome.

@custommuffler, your thread, your $$, your Jeep, build it the way you want. Having said that, despite some of the jokes and critiques, there is a common sense thought process being thrown your way from real world experience. You want the Jeep to be a cool rolling advertisement for your shop/work, but if it is broken and IN the shop, it will do you no good.

Lastly, given what you do for a living, you haven't mentioned what type of exhaust you are installing. Inquiring minds would like to know...

I wish I had deeper gears than 5.38 with my 4.0, 42RLE, and 37s. On the highway and off road.

Shit, 5.38 isn't even deep enough for 35s with the 42RLE.

That damn transmission just makes you want to gear as deep as possible, which unfortunately all that's possible is 5.13 on non-Rubicon models and 5.38 on Rubicon models.

Only one option now. Dana 30 is in there for now. I have no issue buying a 44 for the front but Ive got a big brake deal Im getting from mrbaine. So a 30 is staying period for now. Unless a 44 is donated my way. Im trusting yalls experience and going 513 thanks
