Been busy in the shop so not much done to this thing since coming back from paint. Double din in, hardtop on with all new seal, windshield. Decided on a poison spider hood louver deal and wouldnt you know it, the very last bolt (I was releaving the hole abit with drill for alignment) and pulled out too far so drill bit on high speed walked the hood. Thats going back to paint.
Question: Kentrol hinges. Bought all of them. Put tailgate on and cant hardly move it. Re-aligned about 30 times and same thing. Figured break in but after 10 times trying to open/close the damn thing got harder. Remover tailgate and top hinge I can barely move with all my weight, might and two arms. Swung bottom about 30 times till it too is damn near unmoveable. Since this is 304, shouldnt they have anti-sieze in the hinge pin from factory? I havent gotten to doors but now Im afraid to use the Kentrol hinges on them.
Metal cloak lift came in. This is some big heavy steel! 17" brake kit will be up next for order.

Last time I did that I was told to put it back on.
I could be wrong here, but I have been a fan any big follower on mrblaine for many years. I am going to go out on a limb here. I guess guessing a trip to Tent and awning discount superstore might be in your future,

So whats so horrible about them? Seriously, ellaborate. These tires are designed NOT to have road noise. Important part of MY build. Looks is my thing. Aggressive look without actually being aggressive. If I was to ride in a vehicle with lets say thornbirds, Id probably kill someone after 30 mins. That or Id have to get out and consume some beer.
Just took off a set of those tires and they weren’t worn out.
They’re noisy on the street and handle crappy on the street.
Mine were 33’s not 37’s, but I doubt a larger size would be any better.

Sorry, I was really posting to see if anyone had issues with Kentrol hinges. Hood isnt mounted and Im scared to death about bolting the doors on now with them. This thing just got out of paint. Griffin rad looks good sticking out the top with no hood though LOL. Cant wait to get the blower on this thing

Ill be ready to drop the axles to do trusses on the Dana 30 and 44. Gears to be ordered from revolution I believe it is. They are out of inventory on everything for now and big brake kit from blackmagicbrakes. Any thoughts on truss kits with gussets? I like the iron rock kit but am a lil worried about relocation stuff and metal cloak lift.

The only truss I would consider would be the ones that come with the Savvy mid-arm suspension. Unless you’re jumping the car, you generally won’t see that kind of axle failure. You’d be better off adding chromoly shafts, and maybe even a Super 30 kit, than spending the time and money installing a truss.

If you really need stronger axles it may be time to consider custom built axles typically based on the Dana 60 or stronger versions of the Dana 44.

If you aren’t wheeling it and aren’t addressing the ball joints I wouldn’t truss it.

My only experiance with Kentrol products was on a CJ and they were crap IMO. I'd bought their Black Chrome stuff for my CJ and before the end of the first winter they were all rusted and the hood hinge snapped because it was frozen from rust.

The truss kits are purely for that "hardcore" look. We have pot holes here but nothing that would actually warrant a truss lol. But this Jeep is getting them no matter what.

The kentrol hinges they replaced. All is well again. I even ordered their stainless louver cover. Thats getting blasted and powdercoated.

Aftermarket differential covers would get you additional bling at much less cost and effort. Plus you can paint them bright colors to make them visible. To a degree they also have the practical benefit of reducing odds of differential damage.

Poison Spider diff covers are pretty blingy — you can paint the spider a different color, get a two tone thing going. Nevermind that I pretty much hate everything they make...

Im picky, Corona Priemium in a bottle is all I drink. And spending money? I have only one and he's 16 once. I always swore my son wouldnt grow up like me. I wont allow him to ever be or be viewed as second.
Does anyone here really recommend a truss and why? I want to gusset as well. And..... Ive gone through all of the sport bar deals. I should have purchased the poison spider full cage but this is painted and bolted down on fresh raptor black so Im not going backwards. Have the Rockhard sport cage deal coming then to paint for body color. From there I can mount the switch pros deal. All wiring I plan to run through cage.
