Well, I looked at wire diagrams...and they suck !
On an old JF post from 09 or 2011, it looks like the ambient temp sensor on the RF of the grill is for measuring the air temp going into the engine and/or engine compartment. The mechanics/reasoning behind it wasn't posted. Something new every day !
Also, I had earlier said my mirror sensor was dimming the display because of the position on the grill...….. well, shit, it was the light from the front of the top (NX twill) being flipped back because the weather has been awesome …… A little rain, close the top.....wow, bright display......go figure...….Knucklehead on display...hahaha....Something new every day

That's what I was thinking as well. An ambient temp sensor for the PCM purposes or something. It would be interesting to un-plug it and see what (if anything) happens as a result. Possibly a check engine light I would imagine.
Funny thing is, it uses the same part number as the one used to measure the temperature to send to the mirror. Seems like the smart thing to do would have just been to use ONE sensor as oppose to two.
One of the posters said unplugging it did cause a cel, and for some unk reason it could not be cleared in the normal ways, like the auto parts guy and his machine......I'm thinking maybe a dealer only type of clear....but that doesn't make sense to me.....and there was no explanation.
I would have liked to have seen what the code it was throwing was though... That might tell you what exactly it is!
