Are These Walker Evans Beadlocks Authentic or Not?

A set of local Walker Evans beadlocks popped up at a pretty good price.

However the person listing could not give me an exact part number to look up the specs. These wheels also have what appears to be a slightly different finish than most of WE Beadlocks ive seen before.

Does anyone make knockoff versions of these that I should be aware of? Im probably paranoid but figured some of you would have more experience.

I don’t think anyone makes WE knockoffs that I’ve ever seen. On their website they do have the color with the chrome outer ring sold seperatly. How much is he getting rid of them for?

Those are real WE. He’s had those for many years on his scrambler. He’s also had them posted for at least two months. I’d say you can get them for a good amount less than posted. Last I saw they were $1200.

Are you aware that Walker makes both real beadlocks and fake “streetlocks?”

Also, the back of the wheel will have all the info you need to do your research cast into it.

If it matters to you, older Walker Evans were cast in the USA, newer casting are not.

My original question was more along the lines of whether or not there were "off-brand" WE look alike wheels on the market.

I was curious mainly because I wasnt familiar the finish on these compared to ones ive seen before.

What marking am i looking for on the back of the rim?

They're available in different finishes. Those look like the "machined" finish, with an aluminum ring. Also, if they were on a Scrambler, they would be a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. Unless an adapter is involved. As was said, they can probably be had cheaper. That price seem a little high.

You won’t find 15” wheel on their website. Doesn’t mean they didn’t make them. Yes these wheels are 5x5.5, I believe it said that in the add. So unless your running a 5x5.5 lug pattern I wouldn’t recommend d them. If you look closely the ring is machined “Walker Evans Racing”. These are very real if that’s your concern. From the seller, all the threads are good but he’d recommend new hardware.

The color and ring was probably produced sometime ago and is no longer offered in the color scheme. Ask him to send you pics of any markings and go from there.

Not sure exactly. But should have a WE stamp or maybe even a P/N.

A high resolution shot in good lighting would suffice.

Atleast you would have something to google at that point.

I have an odd situation where my rear axle is a couple inches wider than the front and my rear axle shafts are double drilled for 5x5.5.

I was thinking i could run these with an adapter up front that would also help make up some of the axle width difference.

Just keep in mind that since the 15" wheel is no longer available, should you need a replacement, it may be difficult to find one. Unless this was a screaming good deal, given that and the bolt pattern difference, I'd keep looking.

It’s not those are 17s. Simply saying just because it’s not on their site any longer doesn’t mean they are fakes. Your overall effective backspacing will be shit if you put those on with an adapter. Those wheels are showing 4-3/8 backspacing. Common adapter thickness is 1.25”. That'd put you at 3” back spacing. Say goodbye to ball joints, steering and unit bearings.

My WE beadlocks are 15" with a 5x5.5" bolt pattern and 4" of backspacing. I wish I could find one more for my spare tire. Alas they stopped making 15" Jeep wheels several years ago.

I just sold a brand new never mounted set of 15s. It was a set of 6. 3.75” BS 5x5.5 bolt pattern

I wanted to be around 3.5 to 3.75 of total backspacing including the adapters.
Obviously 3" is not 3.5" or 3.75"

But it sounds like in the land of backspacing a 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch might as well be a mile.

Right, @mattcogdell was just saying that just because a product or product finish isnt currently listed on the WE website doesnt mean that at one time they wernt on their website.

He was using their discontined 15” cast wheel as an example and it caused some confusion.
