Axle U joints

I think that the clicking noise I have in my 2000 Wrangler is the axle U-joints. Is that a pressing issue that I need to fix right away or can it wait until I can find the time to take it to the shop because this is my DD.

I think that the clicking noise I have in my 2000 Wrangler is the axle U-joints. Is that a pressing issue that I need to fix right away or can it wait until I can find the time to take it to the shop because this is my DD.

It could be unit bearings or even ball joints too, I forgot my magic 8 ball today.

But, I would have it looked at as soon as possible. Something breaks in one those critical areas and it could make for a really bad day in which it could add more cost.

Not trying to stoke fear, but if something is making noise, chances are it could have been caught well before during a visual inspection or a dry steering test. If it’s making noise, it needs to be addressed.

Do an inspection of the U joints for the axles, front and rear driveshaft.
IF you see redish rusty powder or shiny metal around the edge of the U joint cups; these are indications of dry U joints that need to be replaced.
