I really love the look of Mammoth boulder wheels. They look like the AEV wheels but are easier to find and much much cheaper.

However I am only running 31s with no plans to go up to 33. If I jump to 33 I will be putting 1050s on and not 1250s.

The problem is the back space on the boulder is much smaller than stock. I dont like the skateboard look on a Jeep and I really do not like changing the geometry on the bearings. I’m stuck,

How much of a change are we looking at if I run a wheel with 3.7 inch backspace? How much harder will it be on the stock axles? Would it also be as hard if I went up to 1250s?

Truth be told, with 31” tires, the stock backspacing is really the best (so around 5”).

With 3.75” they’ll be sticking out about 1.25” more than stock, so you will have a bit of that skateboard look. IMHO, the skateboard look doesn’t look bad if you have massive, fat tires. However, when you have smaller 31s, I think it’s going to look a bit silly personally. I could be wrong though, as I’m not visualizing it in my head.
