Banks Turbo Tune in a Wranglerfix PCM

I recently spoke with Mark @Wranglerfix after installing his PCM in my 2005 Rubicon Wrangler. Doing so solved my random rough idle and #3 misfire. I let him know I successfully installed the Banks Turbo tune in his PCM, which was previously thought to not be possible. This is a big deal for anyone running a Banks turbo since the OEM PCM is known to fail and the Wranglerfix PCM is known to be the best replacement option.

Directions for folks with the Banks/Diablo tuner:

1. Remove the Banks tune from your old PCM before you remove the PCM from your rig.
- Doing so will install the stock tune into the old PCM and unlock the programmer so you can install the Banks tune in your new Wranglerfix PCM.

2. Physically install the Wranglerfix PCM in your rig. (steps 2 and 3 are interchangeable)

3. Before loading the Banks/Diablo programmer to the Wranglerfix PCM, you need to connect the programmer to your computer using Diablo's "Ignition" application on your computer.
- The programmer will try to update, but always fails for me (which is not a problem)
- You should see an option that says "more" at the bottom of the application or you will see an option to select "device info" either on your programmer or in the application.
- Select "device info" and your device will auto-update and state that it's calibrated to your VIN making it ready to connect to the new PCM.

4. Connect the Banks/Diablo programmer to your OBDII port and load the tune into the PCM by following the prompts on the programmer. Refer to your Banks Turbo Manual if you need help with those steps (the directions are easy to follow).
- The Banks/Diablo programmer will save Mark's base tune and then load the Banks tune into the Wranglerfix PCM.

5. All done

In summary, it's a relief knowing the Wranglerfix PCM will take the Banks tune since the TJ computers have a history of breaking. Additionally, folks have used HPTuners to add a custom tune to their Wranglerfix computer. This means that folks can purchase a turbo from @Jezza and use HPtuners to program their Wranglerfix PCM now or in the future.

Hey man not sure about the PN but here’s my order info. I have a 2005.

Make sure to reinstall the stock tune to the old PCM before removing it from tue rig. Doing so will unlock the Diablo and allow you to install the Banks tune just as you did in the past.

Before going down the messier path that I had to take, try hooking the Diablo up straight to the WF PCM to see if it will take the tune without any fuss. It’s possible that the software will play nicer for you than it did with me (needing to be synched to the application on the computer).

I also have a 2005 Wrangler Rubicon with the auto 42RLE transmission.

I can also confirm the WranglerFix PCM works with the DiabloSport inTune i1000 to install a Banks tune. This is huge! I was expecting to need an engine swap (or at the very least, remove the Banks Turbo Kit) when my PCM died.

It took a bit of back and fourth, connecting the "Ignition Updater" in order to load the calibration set for communicating with the PCM. Without the calibration set loaded, the tune cannot be flashed.

Holley Support was super helpful when I called, they were able to confirm whether or not the tool was connecting to their servers properly.
After connecting a few times, the calibration set finally loaded to the inTune. Once that happened, I was good to go. The PCM accepted the tune without any problems!
