I have a 2004 LJ that has some noticeable play in the steering that gets scary on-highway in moderate to high winds. I've done the dry steering test and confirmed it is coming from the steering box. I can wiggle the steering wheel back and forth an inch and there's movement into the steering box but not out. As I'm looking to tow a small travel trailer, I want to tighten this up as much as I can.
Can you recommend a replacement steering box? I definitely want to avoid any reman parts. I've heard good things about the PSC Big Bore XD series but it looks like it requires some significant modifications??? I'm okay spending a few extra bucks to make this driver more safely.
