Bestop Trektop NX with Genright cage

I am in the process of installing this top on my TJ with the Genright Cage. In order to get the door surrounds to fit, I need to “trim” the forward cage mount. Anyone have one of these that they installed? I would love to see some pictures. Genright is pretty much useless with information. As usual, they have no pictures, instructions, etc.

Did you actually call GenRight by chance? I've found them to be very helpful over the phone. I'm sure you have, but if not, it's an idea at least

Maybe someone else will respond that actually has firsthand experience.

Yep, I chatted with them over FB chat and here is what they wrote:

“Well, none of us have our tops on right now since it hot in Cali. Notch the bottom front half of the door surround to make it clear the a pillar to go down the windshield. You will need to trim off a couple inches on both sids across the back window to get it to sit flat and zip up.”

Which is fine but some pictures would really help.

i sometimes wonder how much of this non-instructional stuff is just for legal reasons. if they tell you what it's for and how to use it, i could be held responsible if it fails. if i sell you something and don't mention "how to" it then becomes your trouble to how and where it got used.

i'd trim the plastic b4 anything on the cage...those are 50$ if you screw um up.

So please excuse my ignorance. I'm usually pretty good about figuring this stuff on my own but I would really benefit from some advice here. Here are pics of what I got. I trimmed up the forward surround mount to get it to fit but I'm not sure what the final product is supposed to look like and I want to 100% sure before I drill holes in the cage.

As you can see, the door surround doesn't sit on the tub rail, nor does it reach the windshield. This particular cage was welded and installed by Genright so I'm going to assume that there is nothing wrong with the installation. The cage does NOT connect to the windshield (the brackets they sent me don't fit ) but I'm guessing that if I can make some brackets, I might be able to suck the windshield back a little to close that gap.

Anyhow, here are some pics. Hopefully, I can get some assistance. This forum seems like my best bet as getting some answers.

1st it looks to me like your missin the window trim that meets up to that

that trim would cause you not to have to pull it so far forward and maybe let the back end come down. flipside is the trim may have been pulled to fit the cage there.

Yep, that's gotta be it. Looking for that trim now.
