Breather hose

Hello guys back with another question! So i went offloading one time and was stuck in water for a long time and got water in the tranny i took it to my shop so they could rebuild the tranny and the extended the breather hoses on my rear and front diff but they told me there wasn't a breather on my type of tranny i have a 2002 jeep tj x is this true? Because i have been absolutely terrified of water ever since that day and am always nervous and can't really enjoy the off roading PLSSSSS HELP!!

There is definitely a breather on your tranny. The mechanic is just lazy/dishonest. Find another mechanic.

You should be reluctant to submerge your jeep below a certain depth. If your tranny gulped enough water to destroy it then you exceeded that depth. Expect electrical problems in the future as well as the wiring harnesses corrode from the trapped water in the connections.

If all 4 breathers are raised sufficiently, you should be fine. I believe most of the electrical plugs are sealed. Occasional high water is not normally an issue as long as it doesn't get in the engine.

While your mechanic was wrong on your particular transmission not having a breather hose, earlier model TJs with the AX-5, AX-15, 30RH, and 32RH transmissions did not have a breather hose. Water can get into any of those four transmission through their vents. His heart was in the right place.

Dang okay well is there any at all i can do about it cause i really wanna do overlanding with it. and if i can't could ya tell me where the vents are so i know a safe depth to go in?

My safe bet is when water / mud level up to 1/2 of my wheels bec. I don't have a lift

I guess I wasn't clear above, your transmission has a vent hose that keeps water from entering. Not that taking your Jeep through deep water is a good idea.
