Here is an example shot somebody posted on Home Depot's website granted its not on a Jeep but you get the idea.
No need to get fancy on paint, it's just a bumper. Rattle can Rustoleum or Krylon is what 99.99% of us Jeepers painting our bumpers use.
There is need to get into paint analysis-paralysis for a Jeep bumper.
Jerry, on armor, such as rocker guards and corner guards, would you rattle can the bolts too?
Or would you go thru the trouble of pulling the armor off the jeep and painting it that way?
Definitely, so long as they are already in place. My TJ is not a show Jeep where I'd want or need bright bolts.

I bought some fancy VHT roll bar and chassis paint for my rocker guards. It has chipped off on the passenger side already. Wasn't worth buying anything extra IMO. I do think the satin finish will touch up nicely though if I ever get around to doing it. Very low on the priority list.

Good luck with that. Somehow the wind gods know when you pick up a rattle can of paint. Every damn time...
Thanks. I may drag this project into my big shed, but that means not enough light. One way or the other...I'd like to get these mounted next weekend.
Only on a Jeep would rattle can anything be 100% acceptable for paint coverage for brand new parts. Love it. Can't wait to see the finished product installed!

You won't regret the rustoleum textured black. Just painted my rocker guards with it and I love the way it came out. Also matches my MC fenders very well.

Crap...forecast is for colder temps, rain, possibly snow this weekend. Project may have been put off once again...I need an indoor place to paint these...

With the handle on it is easiest to still shake the can by directly holding the can. The can rotate in the holder so just make sure the nozzle is aligned back to center before you start spraying.
Sorry, this seems to have turned into my 'bumper finish & install' thread...anyway, weather still too lousy this weekend, rained all day yesterday. Sunny today, but windy and still too cold to paint. So I took the day to work on prepping the rear crossmember, i.e. drilling the 4 extra holes needed to mount the bumper, painting the drilled holes, and of course a test fit to make sure all the holes line up:

I am so impressed by the quality and fit of these bumpers, I've got to hand it to Robert @ Dirtworx, he really knows his stuff. Everything fit exactly as expected, and looks like it would last forever...I didn't do anything with the front bumper, as it is a matter of bolting it up where the stocker unbolts. I don't anticipate any issues.
