Busted my rear control arm bracket

So on arriving the so called OEM replacement bracket for the upper drivers side rear control arm/ trac bar bracket, isn’t exactly the same, it’s definitely thicker gage steel (which is a good thing) but it’s caused the trac bar extension bracket to sit differently. It’s about 1/4 “ offset and 1/4 to high, with Some drilling and welding I could get the thing mounted but it would (If I’m thinking right) make the trac bar need to be at least 1/4 longer?
so im thinking my options are 1) buy a adjustable trac bar, which brings up the ? Do I even need the trac bar extension bracket if I have an adjustable trac bar, in other words can an adjustable track bar sit in the original OEM bracket with a 3” lift?
or 2) buy another after market bracket to weld in place of the original??
Any help thoughts or ideas would be appreciated..

Same lack of weld penetration I found when my chassis side upper rear bracket parted the frame.

I really see no reason not to re-use the original after a clean up.

Yep, put the original back on, brace it over to a couple of diff cover bolts and call it good.

Doesn’t the trac bar need the extension bracket with a lifted tj?

The original original bracket that broke off the jeep is cracked completely in half on the other side, there’s no reusing that:/

You do understand that other than the shape of the weld, it is no different than any other weld holding crap to the axle, right? Clean it some, clamp it, weld it up, it will be fine.

You should see my bracket. Got my brother the welder to come over and lay some bead. That thing looks like a pretzel, but it ain't gonna go anywhere. Got everything bolted to it and welded it in place. I was putting wet rags on the axle housing while he was burning rods..ha ha

Maybe Im saying this wrong, the old bracket is garbage and that’s where it is, and I’m not worried about the welding.

doesn’t the bracket take twisting force from flex? I figured that’s what caused it to break, and a upgraded bracket might help?

It broke due to the increased leverage, the brace stops that from happening.

If you can weld, I wouldn't worry about the bolt in the bracket, I would just weld the track bar bracket to the fitting, if you want to install the bolt, drill to match, but still weld in place. You would need a adjustable track bar, but you should get one anyway. If you have installed a CV driveshaft and rotated the pinion you should really use a "bent" raised bracket. If not, then the straight bracket is fine or even no bracket would be needed assuming you have adjustable track bar.

I recently had mine crack and break off as well, cracked the same exact way due to the leverage of the track bar. I agree that you could just weld it back together, but you need to account for the leverage of the raised track bar (also recommend to replace your track bar with and adjustable track bar that has decent joints, currie or JKS).

I ultimately replaced mine with a thicker upper control arm bracket and I welded a new "bent" track bar bracket to it (I did also use the bolt). I then added a homemade bracket that I welded to the track bar bracket and to the axle to help with the leverage added by the track bar bracket. Picture below. I also replaced the stock track bar with an adjustable track bar with a good joint.
