Please advise
Had the normal tick coming from cam sensor. Decided to replace the cam synchronizer.
set engine to TDC.
removed old
Installed new (easy)
New wants to point more towards engine than toward rear of engine.
reassemble
Turn key
Turns over cranks loud noise like bad

help please

what could have been done wrong

You set the engine to TDC and removed the OPDA, but did you align the hole in the OPDA plate and body before removing?
When you install the new synchronizer you will need to turn the OPDA slightly in the opposite direction so as the helical gears mesh the OPDA body will twist into position.
Did you leave the alignment tool in while inserting the OPDA ?
The plastic alignment tool will snap off the first time you crank over the engine...
