Center Console Questions

My center console I got of ebay arrived today. It is a console that has the slots for the subwoofer, but it didn't have the subwoofer with it. Looking down inside the "cd" holder area you can see 2 open holes that would appear to be for screws. Are these to hold the subwoofer box in place? I circled them in red.

Also, I'm not quite sure how to get the gear selector and E brake brushes off. Sorry, not sure what to really call them but you will see what I'm talking about in the pic. LOL They appear to be held on with melted plastic from the console itself. I may end up just try to mask them off best I can.

I'll post pics of the whole thing in my build thread in a little while.

Someone will chime in . I know there's a lot of room in mine with no subwoofer .

The console must be the single area of the TJs that has the most variation over the years. I keep seeing ones that I have never seen before.

yes, those are for holding the subwoofer, somebody will correct me if I am wrong

The insert is different between the sub and non-sub consoles, The brushes are part of the console, they aren’t meant to come off.

If you drill out those plastic rivets the tray will come out. Then you have it open all the way to the floor. I removed mine cause the sub woofer was blown and to me the radio just fills a hole in the dash.

As far as removing the black part, I do want to put a subwoofer in so I will keep it in.

I will just try to mask off the brushes best I can.
