Cheap fender band aid

Wife got a pretty decent 2000 Sahara about a month ago. Great shape except for the fender rot. Was looking for a temporary fix till I got some other projects done.
Here is the way we got

Cleaned them up, painted some POR15 on them. Ordered aluminum fender cutouts on Ebay. I cut holes for hood latches since this will be temporary.

Ordered some factory spray can paint. Ended up stripping first try off and re-doing after two weeks. It started chipping and peeling due to me not using the right primer for aluminum. Here is the finished product

I added some weatherstripping to underside of hood to keep from possibly chipping paint. Will touch up the rivets to proper color. Have about $80 into it.

Looks good! Can hardly tell. I recommend when you fix those in the future or get new ones be sure to seal up that reinforcement plate real good. That's the culprit on all of them. That's how mine were and how I fixed them. This is right after I bought it and how they were after.

Thanks. As I have zero welding skills I think I will be getting new ones. Will definitely seal new ones up. Yours look like they came out great.

Not a bad temporary solution at all. Obviously I would just make sure that you check the rest of the body as well to make sure rust isn't anywhere else that you can't see.

But otherwise, damn good job!

Thanks Chris. The rest of the Jeep is surprisingly decent, for an 16 year old Ohio Jeep, compared to most of what we seen when looking for one. I did buy a supply of POR15 and plan on hitting it good.
