Competition cam for 05 4.0

Engine Masters did a test of 3 different small cams. I don't know that the SBC and a 4.0 would react the same, but the dyno showed too small of cam 200 [email protected]" did not outperform the medium 212 [email protected] cam. The smaller cam had only a few pounds of torque more than the medium, but the small cam fell off at around 3400 rpm.

I have a Comp 163-201-5, I might have gone up to the next larger cam had I saw the video before my combo was set.

Displacement and head flow is everything with cam size. Put a large small block cam in a big block and its a small torque cam. I have a larger cam than that in my stroker and it is a very conservative low rpm cam

Please explain. Being a GM tech I've never heard or experienced an oil pump problem with 5.3 engines.

Wife had a 2012 GMC 1500 with 5.3 and at @28K on it the oil pump relief malfunctioned, it was thought. Lost almost all psi with alarms,bells,whistles and bad gogo engine noises. Dealer said it was a known problem if I remember right. replaced oil pump and sending unit. Oil psi was never the same, right at the lower limit. About 5 psi warm. New sending unit lasted @10K and had to be replaced. Coworker had a 2011 same truck, sending unit crapped out at low mileage.
