Cracked Track Bar Mount

Agreed. It won't leave the garage unless I'm driving it to be repaired.

Thanks for this. I don't want have to repeat this job if I can avoid it.
Is this an opportunity in disguise to upgrade to a better design from an aftermarket manufacturer? I read threads on horizontal vs. vertical mounts (TJ style vs. JK style) and I saw some double shear designs that claim improvement over stock. It looks like Genright and others have different designs, but I'm largely ignorant about the more hardcore builder options. I don't plan to change the front suspension design since the Jeep is capable enough for my needs.

Without getting into too many details of why, I ended up moving my track bar mount forward on the frame. Which let me swap out to a not-cracked factory mount in the process. Because the webbing on both sides cracked on the old one, I added a brace to the frame on the replacement mount.

I could have gone to a double shear and even modded my track bar to get it. But I don't see the single shear as a problem to solve.

I also didn't do any pre/post heating to the mount when I relocated it.

Context. How many stock track bar mounts have you welded back together, back to the frame or welded tabs with braces to?

Me, I'm up to maybe 20-25 or so. I wouldn't know a steamfitter if you ran over me with one but I can put a track bar mount back together with a welder, it won't fail, and I've not once ever done any pre or post heat. The rest of that context is I have a casting engineer I pay lots of money to for the composition of our knuckles we build. I know a thing or two about casting.

FYI Steamfitters are the guys that fab, install, modify and repair the major piping systems in refineries power plants industrial complexes, hospitals, NASA and pretty much anything short of plumbing.

I have never welded a Jeep track bar mount in my life, but quite familiar with the process. Had I known you tackled so many with good results I would not had posted in the first place.

I always bow to your expertise in the field and rarely dabble in suspension, steering and gearing subjects and try to stay within my range of knowledge elsewhere on the site.

Anyone sell a bracket to weld on to support trackbar frame mount?

Yep. There are a few out there. I had mine welded and braced at the local 4x4 shop. They did a nice job.

Do they understand which direction the forces are applied to the mount?

I'll have to fab up a brace for my present TB mount. I thought I had done that years ago but I guess that was on my previous TJ.

I have a cross brace that runs frame rail to frame rail that I'd like to figure out how to use with a welded support bracket.

Anyone that has done something similar I'd be interested in seeing options.

Yep, saw that one. Is it reinforced just on the one side? Would be interested in a pic from the rear facing front if you have one.
I only plated the one side. But there is no reason not to do both, except that I doubt it is necessary with the cross brace.

Cross brace is almost impossible to do better than.
