Cruise control doesn't work after raining in TJ

I have a 2000 Jeep, I recently exposed my cabin to a torrential downpour overnight, my Jeep experienced a few inches of water in the floor boards. The airbag light stayed on for a few days and went off after drying out. My cruise control went out and the light will not light up on the dash, neither will the CC engage. It's been a few weeks and the cruise still won't activate. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

That makes sense because about 24 hours after rain exposure the horn started to randomly honk, after that, one continuous honk until I disconnected it. Plugged them back in a couple days later I checked and the horn works fine. That's about the time when the airbag light went off.

Yep, all things that are controlled by the clock spring. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this story either, and it always ends up being a bad clockspring due to the rain.

And to think, there’s guys who actually want to take these things in water up to the engine

I tried to keep on driving with a bad clockspring and my CEL came on, Throttle Position Sensor had gone bad. I suggest you resolve it sooner rather than later

I had to replace the clock spring on a '99 XJ I recently purchased. Horn wouldn't work, airbag light was on, and cruise control wouldn't work. I ended up ordering a Crown replacement from Summit Racing and it fixed the issues. Make sure the clock spring you get has the cruise control function.

Well, to whomever it may concern, the TPS ch engine light was still on til this point. I jumped in my Jeep after about about a week and the damned light was off. My Jeep is purring like a kitten without any issues. More than likely it was something to do with the clock spring. The Jeep gods were smiling on me!
