If you are interested, some filters like the Pronto PA5089 filter have foam pre-filter before the paper element to catch large objects before they reach the paper element. Factory Mopar filters used to have this foam until they cut costs and just went straight paper. You have to check the filters, some with the same part numbers don't have the extra foam. If you wheel in areas with heavy dust, dirt and debris the foam really helps keep the junk out of the paper pleats.
