Hey I'm serious any vehicle that's equipped with air conditioning needs to be cycled every month or so... You have no rings that can dry out and compressor oil that needs to get moved around.

That was not a serious comment... I was just poking fun at my own insanity.If you have the top off, how do you know what air is 'inside the roll cage'??
Haha, I listened to this guy in the 80's and memorized a lot of his material. Paraphrasing this one, we'll have to see how close I am:

The snap on tops with full cloth doors about froze me to death years ago ....any of you guys remember those?
My wife and I dated in one and the vent was stuck open on her side , she wore skirts , was always freezing..I got all the heat , had no idea.

You should be good in AL without the hardtop, I would think (and a closed vent!). Maybe pick up a cheap top on craigslist if you happen to come by one. If you get a good deal, it would be easy to get your $ back.

Now the A/C really cools in the Arizona sun.
3. Thieves have to get past the locks to steal stuff from my hard top.
4. Hard top Jeeps go everywhere a stripped Jeep goes. Okay, I lied. Most.
5. Nothing beats feeling like you are an invisible observer of the world as you ride a motorcycle.

I’m in the South East like you, andon my 3rd Jeep, and I’ve had both tops. My CJ, had a really bad softie, then bought a hardtop, then sold it, and bought a new soft top, and loved it. Then my JY had a hard top, and I hated it. I bought a TJ a few months ago, and having a soft top was a plus. If I’d found a good one with a hard top I would have sold the hard top and added a soft top.
Down here we have to many days in the “winter” when it goes to 75 during the day and you can drop the top. Also with all the pop up showers in the summer it is nice to be able to put the top up quickly. The only way I’d consider a hard top is if I had a long interstate commute daily.
