When I have the top completely off for a few weeks in spring and fall I remove them because I like the look better. They are needed for my safari top that is on most of the other time though. Super easy to take off and reinstall, about 30 seconds each.

Since we are confessing here I do have three sets of Mopar mirrors and only one LJ.

Mine are off more than on and I prefer that look when the doors are off.
However, because of the potential cracking issue mentioned by @Jerry Bransford, I separate the two pieces and only run the top section when my doors are on.
Best of both worlds.

Wow that’s great,didn’t know they could be separated.I’m doing this as my Bimini top needs them.I gues I’ll have to have an EXTRA set too!!

Full doors really should always have the door surrounds installed. Slamming the doors shut without them will eventually crack the welds at the bottom of the window frames.

I always wondered what had caused the cracks when I bought the Jeep. Makes sense, as the previous owner only had a hard top and most of the pre-sale photos were doors on top off.

All based on time.. If the top is down for a while and the doors off as well, surrounds come off. Otherwise, leave them on.

No great risk of them being stolen than if you run a soft top all the time.
