Dried up RTV

Does any have a proven method of sealing up opened tubes of RTV, silicone, caulk, etc.?

Over the years I’ve tried putting a piece I’ve plastic over the end of open tubes of RTV and silicone, then putting the cap on over the plastic. This seems to have worked the best for me, but not everytime. I’ve tried plastic over the threads then taped up as tight as I can get it, a nail stuck down in there and then taped up, All of them seem to lead to having to dig out the opening at some point.

What do y’all do?

An appropriately sized long nail or bolt seems to work best of all the things I've tried.

Drywall screw. Even if it doesn’t seal perfectly, the screw threads pull out the cured chunk at the end and it’s ready to use.

RTV is moisture activated. Best way to prevent moisture is to put the tube in a sealed glass jar with desiccant packs you get in shipping boxes to absorb any moisture. Super glue is the same it’s moisture activated.
