On the road.
Getting prepped to add a winch & etc to the front of the SE. Synthetic line, no rocks.

I was out to the TRE website and checked out their fairleads. There are three available from them. Logo, no logo and safety. I was eyeing the standard fairlead, no logo, when it occurred to me, "Where does the safety thimble go if you don't get the safety fairlead? Does it just stick out the front?". That just seems untidy. I don't go bashing rocks around here as rocks are few and far between in this area. So, if you don't have the TRE safety fairlead, what do you do with the safety thimble, besides let it poke out the front?

I would think you suck it up tight to the fairlead

Will it fit on your D-ring or front hook?
Yes.

You can run it many different ways:

I would like to ad, TRE wouldn't come out with a super expensive fairlead if they didn't think it solved a solution to the problem. If you hit up @Garza with 4LowParts you can usually get the Safety thimble fairlead and rope for $350.00 which isn't too bad at all. Considering @Chris is running one I'm sure he will chime in here!

I have the safety thimble and the fairlead that goes with it. I’m actually not sure if the fairlead is required or not. I believe @mrblaine was the one who designed it, so maybe he can offer a more conclusive answer. I don’t want to speculate.

Poke out the front, hang from a winch hoop, toss over a tow hook, use the Safety Thimble fairlead, (my personal favorite), and do not worry about letting aluminum butt flat into aluminum if you let it poke out the front. Won't hurt a thing and that is what it is designed to do, thus the "safety" part of Safety Thimble.
