Eaton E-Locker fitment

Trying to wrap my head around something here. Both QT and Eaton list part# 19977-010 as the correct part # for my TJR using thick cut gears, 3.73 ratio and down.
OK. but thay also list the same part # as fitting the JK Dana 44, is this correct?
If so, what would prevent you from dropping a stock JKR elocker into a TJ?

Physically it will fit with the proper carrier bearings, but I think the JKR lockers are 32 spline where the TJ is 30 for Rubi/Non-Rubi...

The reason I was questioning it is because both QT and Eaton show the same part # for both applications.

So, if the only difference is carrier bearings.... why haven't people installed the JK locker into a TJ housing.
Wouldn't that be a cheaper alternative?

I think the axle shafts are the wrong length and nobody makes axles that fit a Rubicon JK locker that are the correct length for a TJ. I'm no expert so hopefully one chimes in.

There is no 30 spline JK locker. The 30 spline JKs are sports and such. The Rubi JK introduces the locker and also steps up to 32 spline which then doesn't fit in a TJ with factory 30 spline shafts.

Or put another way, that locker is intended to go in any Dana 44 TJ and any 30 spline JK, which won't be a factory locker axle if it's in a JK because those were 32 spline.

Technically that is correct because no one makes a 32 spline TJ shaft.

OK. Now it makes sense. Different spline count, which none of the websites mentioned.
They only mentioned that it does not fit the front axle on a JKR.

It MIGHT fit the rear of a JKR if they downsize axles to the 30s. Not sure about that, the physical pumpkin of a 32 spline JK might be larger since it's one of those "super 44" style axles. Don't know why anyone would try to do that though. Eaton has a 32 spline locker for the rubi JKs for anyone looking to ditch stock. Probably just a typo/lack of detail from QT/Eaton. I'm betting when it said doesn't fit front, it should have also said doesn't fit a Rubi rear as well.

Edit: no that definitely will not work, because the 32 spline axles have the larger 8.9" ring gears. They would be too big for the smaller standard Dana 44 sized 30 spline carrier.

I have this exact locker part number in both my front and rear axles. The front axle uses jk gears and the rear axle uses tj thick cut gears. It’s the OD of the ring gear that is different not the ID.

Maybe it would work fine then. Still don’t see why anyone would want to convert a JK 32 spline axle to run the 30 spline stuff.

I have a currie axle, its TJ width and uses TJ shafts but has JK gears.

Understood. I was speaking more to the first few posts where williambmac was pondering if the 30-s e locker would work on all JKs.

I was trying to figure out the differences, as numerous sites list the same part number but don't differentiate between rubi and non rubi for the JK. If it did turm out that they were indeed the same, I had a line on a stock JK locker that I was going to consider, but being that there is a difference in spline count..... I scratched the idea. Hope that makes sense.
