Boom! Now this is a reply worth reading! Thanks man!
And you’re a dick. Thanks for the response
Having spent over two years looking for a CJ6 or CJ8 with Auto trans and full hard top that were priced under $20k and finding none.
I got a TJ Unlimited as I want the long wheel base.
TJ's are great with the coil spring but the Idiots in charge put a 42rle in them they should have left the 727 trans in them.
None of those things are PCM related and you've been correct twice so far, you are not a mechanic.
I don’t think I ever said they were related. But actually, some ARE related just like your crush is to you. I was simply stating that “these are the things I’ve done since I bought it”.
Thank you mechanic for your input and which wheel goes on the front?
You say that like it's a bad thing. But actually, some ARE related just like your crush is to you.
Good to know the question wasn’t dumb! At least to the ones that had the capacity to understand the question.
I appreciate this, thank you.

The PCM doesn't stop you from spinning the tires. There is no traction control on any TJ from the factory.
None of those things are PCM related and you've been correct twice so far, you are not a mechanic.
If you decide to do this and go down this path to build a non computer controlled TJ make sure to post up what you did and the results. Some of us here are also interested in accomplishing this.
And this response had nothing to do with the question. So thank you for the time you took in location the letters on the keyboard to type this completely irrelevant “answer” but it just doesn’t help. So go back to practicing tying your shoes and don’t offer a response to an already answered question.
Simply, the answer is “yes” and it was posted previously with links on how to eliminate the ECM
If you can’t offer a solution to the problem then there is no need to strain yourself and waste anyone’s time with a post.
Chin up buddy! Just keep coloring those pages
I'm not a mechanic either, but I'm going to jump in here.
First, let me say that Mr. Blaine is one of 2, (The other being Jerry Bransford), guys that you should listen to when he speaks. He's not a dick, but he WILL simply tell you what you need to know and not care whether you like it or not.
Second, our 4.0 engines simply will not run without an ECM. It controls the fuel, spark, timing, and everything else the engine needs to run.
Fuel: we have a fuel injected system. You'd need to replace it with a carburetor, along with a manifold and all the connecting linkage, because fuel injection does not have throttle linkage, it's Throttle By Wire.
Spark: you'd need a distributor, coil, and all associated wiring.
And that's just off the top of my head. To remove the ECM, you'd basically have to perform an engine swap, and install a 258 from a CJ, or an older YJ. Could it be done? Sure. How much time and money do you have. Because since you're not a mechanic, you're going to have to pay somebody to go it for you. And just as an aside, in many places, it's not legal to install an old engine in a newer vehicle.
Ok. Thank you. “Spinning a tire” was used as an example of how I do not want a computer to dictate the way I drive, not a reference to this particular vehicle. But I appreciate the time you took to attempt a correction in my verbiage related to JeEp specs.
So basically I would have another 91 YJ or 79 CJ like the ones I have parked on each side of this Tj now? Lol
I guess I’m wondering if I just completely took out the computer, what else I would have to do to it before I could drive it
