Correction —- The Midland Micromobile radios WILL NOT work on FRS channels 8-14 due to power restrictions, but will work on channels FRS 1-7.

What kind of range will it have?
Any idea if my current antenna mount ( Jeep Wrangler CB Antenna Hood Mount (1997 - 2006) ) will work with the Midland GMRS whip antenna?
...It is my understanding that the GMRS radio I linked also works with the handheld FRS radios? Someone please confirm or correct me please!...
Did not realize the Tech license is cheaper - Is there a test involved and if so what is best way to prep?
Yes there is a test involved. IF you have common sense, safety oriented and some working knowledge of electricity you should be able to pass with a short review of the testing pool.
You can search on QRZ.COM for Technician testing information and study books.
Most testing sites are at the local Fire Department, VFW and other locations.
Not that I condone the use of the Chinese Ham radios; the Baofeng UV-5R can transmit on the ham radio UHF/VHF, FRS and GMRS.
The GMRS license is a family license. Is that the same for any Ham licenses?
The Ham Radio license is for the individual... or the Radio Station location...
