I saw something posted like this in the form a while back, and want to see if anyone has new recommendations.

I need a top for the days in the summer that I need to go to work(no highway speeds) but I don't want to put a hardtop on the day before. I saw the emergency soft top by besttop and that seems OK, but the reviews are awful.

Is the only route to go is to get a full-on soft-top with w/hardware or is there something else I don't know about.

Thanks for your help.

I keep my trail cover in the back for exactly what your describe. You can't drive with it, but you can throw it on in 2 minutes and wait out the rain, or have it covered at work while you are inside.

so it's a top just for driving to work? or its a top to cover the jeep over night without fussing with full tops?

Sounds like you want either a bikini top that covers just the front seat area, or the longer version of that called a safari top that also covers the back seat and rear area. Bestop sells both and both are suitable for long-term use except of course during your cold Boston winters lol.

There's cab covers that cover the Jeep if you were just needing protection while you were at work. Can't really drive with them on though. My coworker uses one during the summer and he likes it alright. https://www.extremeterrain.com/bestop-all-weather-trail-w-tj-8103709.html There's plenty of brands/styles too. If you want one for driving I think a soft top would be the way to go.
That's a good idea. I haven't seen those! I might get that and an extended cab cover when driving. thanks(y)

Thanks! I'll look into those!

This shows Bestop's longer Safari top, you can see it covers from the front to the rear but not the sides.

Just thinking out loud here. Dont you also have to have the correct header bar for the bestops? Thats kind of a bitch to carry around in your jeep. I mean you could have the top on all summer. But i think this dude wants something he can store in his jeep. And not have to use until it rains.

Isn't there a strap in version like a spider shade but with waterproof fabric? I mean just enough to get u home. And it could fit under the back seat? Or if u had an instatrunk?
