I'm doing some searching on replacing my fan clutch, and based on what I've read about the HD Hayden clutches' increased noise level and extra load on the engine I've been trying to locate the best Standard Duty clutch. Here's what I found:
Can anybody chime in who has installed/used the Standard Duty fan clutch?
- When I search for the OEM clutch on Tasca for the '98 4.0L, I get a part number of 68064764AA, which replaces part number 52027892. Both of these are discontinued.
- On Hayden's website, there is a place to enter part numbers for cross reference. I put both of the Tasca numbers in and the Hayden clutch that comes back is 2625 (for reference, the 2737 is the HD fan).
- Even more interesting is going to Oreilly's site. They return 2 fan clutches for the '98, with the Murray brand name. The "non-thermal" clutch is model #2625 and the "Thermal" clutch is #2737. Same model numbers as Hayden. Autozone's Duralast clutch is #922737.
- To make it more confusing, the compatibility charts on Amazon, eBay and Oreilly's show that the Hayden 2625 is not compatible with my model year/engine ('98 4.0l).
