Newer member here. Don't post much but read a lot of posts here. I decided that I'd share what's going on with my Jeep. Here's a pic. I purchased my 01 TJ last year and used it as a 2nd vehicle during the summer. At the end of the summer it started smoking as I was driving it. Since I was in the middle of moving, I trailered it to my new home and there it sat for the next year until I finally had time to work on it. Pulled it into the garage finally to take a look at it and it seemed the smoke was coming from the manifold gasket leaking oil onto the exhaust. So I ordered a new gasket. Cleaned the manifold cover up a bit. Stripped off all the paint. And then painted it with some high heat paint. I put the manifold and gasket back together, and while inspecting the Jeep a little closer, I noticed the front suspension looked like garbage so decided to upgrade some components. So I ordered some new shocks, ball joints, tie rods, drag link, track bar, upper and lower control arms and sway bar end links and new bushings all the way around. Since the oil pan was rusted so bad, I decided to buy a new oil pan and gasket. I had to take the exhaust down to get the oil pan out, so I decided to replace the O2 sensors. To get the exhaust down, I had to take the skid plate down, so I decided to replace the tranny oil and filter. Replaced the rear main seal since I was in there and wouldn't you know it, as I was putting the oil pan back in the tranny lines were so rusted that they started to leak right through them. So purchased and installed some new transmission lines. I deep in the weeds now, as the transmission lines were being replaced, I noticed a leak from the radiator. So there is now a new radiator sitting in the box ready to get installed. As I was waiting for parts, I cleaned up the engine compartment a bit. Anything rusting, I'm stripping it down and treating it with metal prep and painting it with some POR-15. I feel like I'm about 50% done with the front. I'll attach some pics so you can see the progress. It's not anything crazy and I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I'm learning as I go and having fun doing it.
