From Daily Driver to Trailer Queen

I've been fortunate enough that I've been able to retire my TJ as a daily driver. I'm perusing builds and mods that I wouldn't have otherwise considered until now.

What have you done or what do you plan to do to your former DD TJ?

I can said that this happens to me sooner than I do expected.
After the TT addition my LJ reach a point that wheeling was more enjoyable, adding the 35" tires and front locker on the Dana 30 I end up using make those trips even more fun. With that said my horizons expands and I do went to the Tri-community Fire department trail run on Zoe county , Kentucky, this was when I do understand that my LJ is not going to be a daily driver much than the occasional Jeep Club nights and become a Trailer queen even when is perfectly capable to run on road.

I should clarify: I'm no longer using it to be my daily driver. The TJ is still in my posession — I just use it to wheel now!

When I did a JK axle swap, long arm, tummy tuck and 35s my LJ went from DD to trail rig.

When I put on 37' Trepadors I went full trailer queen.

I understand that. What I DON'T understand is why you wouldn't WANT to drive it everyday!

When I’m blessed enough to garage the TJ I want to try and get it factory perfect as a collector. So I understand the need to make it a toy and I cringe at the cost lol

Because letting my TJ repeatedly idle in over an hour of traffic to travel 44 miles round-trip is not my idea of keeping it in good shape.

In my case I drive all day for work, not just to work. I was always nervous when off road that I'd break something I couldn't get fixed by Monday morning. It was also always a pain switching all my tools and work parts for all my recovery gear and jeep parts, then back again. I descovered that a used Mazda 3 was completely paid for including insurance by 2 years of gas savings alone. So that's what I did. When I put on the treps the mileage got so bad that the truck and trailer made sense, not to mention the tires are seriously expensive up here and don't last long, so again the truck allows me to take long trips to the trail in relative comfort, with the added benefit of knowing I can get the jeep home no matter what goes wrong with it. It also gets better mileage towing the jeep than the jeep does on its own.

You're completely missing the point and I don't know how else to explain it to you. Please stop derailing my thread.

In my case I drive all day for work, not just to work.

Before I owned my TJ, it was a fleet vehicle for a state park in Arizona (or something like that). They must've just used it to get from A to B, because aside from a roof rack, the thing was a bone stock X. I still have the X decals on it. I don't plan to remove it because I feel like it gives a good basis of reference as to what it was before I started upgrading it.

There was a bunch of dust underneath the carpeting when I pulled that off to give it a cleaning, though. That was fun to see. We don't get orange-hued dust up here in Illinois.

Lol that's cool, could have used it with some tremclad clear coat to make your own bedliner for the interior. Grippy and easy to touch up, on top of that it would bring some of the vehicle's history with it.
