Functional rock sliders

I have been patiently waiting for the savvy rock sliders to come back into stock and now I’m seeing savvy is no more. So my question is….what rock slider would you choose behind savvy. I don’t care about looks, just want something that is going to hold up to abuse and do its job. Like the idea of boat sides as well for the ground clearance every little bit helps. Also want something that covers wheel well to wheel well.

By your profile, it looks like you have at least a decent grasp of how to fabricate, why not make your own?

Something tells me that this will be coming in the near future.... mini boatsides, fully custom the way you want to build them... I'll leave it at that.....

How soon we talking? Wheeling season is right around the corner, and would like to get a set before it’s impossible to install a set on a crinkled tub.

You will need to build them yourself. It isn't particularly difficult. The hardest part is finding a fabricator that will do a small job like that.

Sounds like you guys can keep up with inflation as capably as I. It would be easier to remove the prices altogether.

Other than it is interesting as a point of historical reference to see how price increases may have varied between different companies.
Just stick a disclaimer upfront saying something like "Prices correct at time of posting". Also quicker than searching thread to take out all prices.

Mac, sorry to dig up an old post, but I am looking at picking up some rock sliders and the RockHard are on my list. Do you still like them? Any issues with them not having any kind of backing plate?

No issues yet. We haven't done anything super hard core with them yet. Heading to the Rubicon in July.

I was thinking of using large seatbelt washers in lieu of a backing plate.

That's great. I am just on 32" tires so I don't do any hard rock crawling, but I have hit my factory step on a few gatekeeper rock gardens and it dented the tub a bit, so it is time for some better protection. My thought was to go with the RockHard sliders and get the GenRight backer plate. Hopefully I just have to drill a couple new holes to get them to mate since I dont have the equipment or skill to do any real fabrication (yet).

Its hard pick ing th right slider. Just when I think I see one I like, I read a post how they need to be modified to work well. Everyone just tells you to get the onubtanium Savvy, but that seems impossible now. I am split between the RockHard, GenRight and JCR.....
