Garage Lift Question

Are you planning on lifting a Peterbuilt LOL. That's not going anywhere.
LOL, I wanted to be able to lift anything I could fit in the door! It not going anywhere is exactly what I was hoping for. 
I used one in my buddy's garage. I didn't like it. I never felt real safe under it especially when really cranking on something, and I was always tripping over the legs...because I was always looking up...not down. I've seen a lot of used ones on Craigslist...maybe there's a reason why...
I don't do any Jeep work laying on my back except pulling the drain plug to change the oil. It is too hard to get leverage for tightening stuff and it is a piss poor way to work. The only way I could use a lift with any efficiency is to have one like a 4 post drive on with arms that swing to the frame and then jacks under all 4 tires and then I'd have to have a way for the arms to chain to the frame so when I moved the corners up and down to articulate the axle, it didn't lift the frame off the arms.Check out Greg Smiths and Summit Racing catalogs. I got my 9,500 lift from them (Greg Smith) and could not be happier. I have 5 cars and trucks plus a motorcycle and use the lift for almost all routine maintenance --oil changes. Unfortunately I can't get the motorhome 28,000 pounds on the lift. Besides my door is only 12 ft and the shop is only 32 ft long.
At just younger than Jerry, I don't do any work on vehicles laying on my back! Blaine is much MUCH younger than Jerry and me!
It's far easier and safer to chain the rig down by the frame and then move the axles around with a couple of jacks.
I've installed tie down points on the concrete so we can strap the front and rear of the rig down onto jack stands so the rig won't fall off of them.
I bought my 2 posy off a local auction, came out of a sams club. Its a challenger 10000 lb Versymmetric lift I paid $1500.00 and had to pick it up. Made in USA and has worked flawlessly past 3 yrs
got a two post truck lift Mohawk LC-12 if I remember correctly rated for 18k lbs and cost just above $35000, came with 5 year warranty and handles anything you put on it. Easy to install, does not need bracing up top but we put some bars from ceiling rafters just for peace of mind.
Will do! They are doing the install next Wednesday and I plan to photograph it and do a write - up for here. Maybe it can help someone setting up...or to make a decision on what type of lift to get.

I will be worth it to build! When you get ready to build, drop me a line and I can give you some tips that I learned from working in a buddy's garage. I used what I learned to incorporate in my build. Even if you have to put out a little more $ it will be worth it in the long run. This is the first time I've had a real garage and it was worth the wait! I completely restored my 67 Mustang on my driveway...so I really appreaciate finally having a garage...and a lift!! Vehicles never break in nice weather! lol
Finally got the lift installed. It was delayed due to the wonderful Pennsyltucky weather up here in the mountains. I went with a 9k Triton Pro series Asymmetrical. $2195 installed! I got it from LiftsPlusDepot.com. They service the East Coast and are based in VA. Great people to work with...I highly recommend them. The install was painless (for me), all I had to do was provide a 12-2 MC cable hooked to a 20 amp breaker (220VAC). It took them about 2 hours to install.
