*GASP* Going Shorter Questions

So the Pickle (2004 TJ) has 4"- 6" of lift on it (I'm not 100% sure because I bought it lifted) with 33" tires and stock 3.07 gearing. Ick.

It's drivable, but I don't like the setup. It needs tires anyway, so I'm thinking of going down to a 2.5" lift and 31" tires.

Regear and lunchbox locker will come later.

Also, to my surprise, it has a SYE *and* a 1" t-case drop. Not sure why because I always thought it needed one or the other, not both.

It also has aftermarket tubular (non-adjustable) suspension arms. I'm not sure if they're long or short arms, or how to tell the difference.

I plan on replacing the shocks anyway so that's not an issue.

So my questions are: will I need a new driveshaft and control arms if I go down to a 2.5" lift?

Can I ditch the t-case drop?

If I stay at this height, should I remove it anyway?

In your opinion(s) will 31" tires on a 4" lift look goofy?

I've never owned a Jeep with one, so just to confirm, this picture shows the t-case output through a SYE?

And that's undercoating, not grease!

Plus, WHO PUTS HOLES IN A RUST FREE TJ TUB IN MASSACHUSETTS??

Measure your springs with the weight of the jeep on them to find your lift height.yes that is an sye. Yes you can remove the skid spacers if you want to depending on lift height. You will need to change the transfercase linkage

Break out the tape and snap more pics.

Measure springs like Rick mentioned, take a shot of the rear pinion angle, measure the control arms.

Sorry missed your other questions. 2" lift and 31s look good. 4" would be weird.

Driveshaft might,you'll want some compression still at the bump stop.

Control arms will need replaced if the rear pinion doesn't point at the tcase output and if the caster in front isn't enough to keep it from feeling darty

I prefer 28s with a 4" lift.
