Here's a completely random question. My '06 has the gauge cluster with the orange needles. Will the white needles from the pre-2000 TJ clip into the newer cluster? I know it's a stupid modification, but I really hate the orange lol.

I can't comment as to whether they will fit or not (I suspect they will), but take it from someone who has swapped gauge cluster needles before... you have no idea what you're getting into and are one step away from really, really fucking something up. Don't say I didn't warn you 
Thanks for the input guys. I'm not really scared of breaking anything. I had also thought of just painting the things, but then they won't light up anymore. Well, they will, but the paint won't allow a lot of light to escape. I did some further searching and found that the orange color is supposedly just an orange paint on the back side of a clear plastic needle. Who knew? The orange can apparently be easily scraped off with razor blade and repainted any color. I think I'm giving this a try...
Just a tip
mark and check your needles. then turn off the jeep and restart it a time or two just to verify their idle cold setting and then when its warmed up also. Then recheck each mark before you remove the needles. Take a pic of it while at idle and then when its off just to have them for a reference when you get everything together.
I am not sure why I took mine out, I think I was doing the LED mod but still not sure why I took the needles out, cannot quite remember. Anyway I really was worried about getting them back in right. The MPH is still like 5 miles slow, I set that with my phone gps at 20 MPH. I think the fuel gauge is off also. the light comes on and I still have like 70 miles before empty.
maybe use glow in the dark paint
