I used to think that but 6 digits is much faster than to turn a safe combination 12 revolutions to open, within 1 number. I converted my manual to an electric lock

Of course its faster - until it isn't. My "fast access" gun safes all use simplex locks - good enough to keep the kids out yet very fast to get open and no electronics.
