Guys,

For first time I'm installing hardtop (~2001 model) on my 2003 TJ. There's no seal on the top where the rear window frame meets tailgate. Is this missing or is this a variance between top year/style?

Please share your advice.

Thanks,

Ken

If you look on threads , using the search feature , you will see a seal we buy for the tailgate to put more tension on what you are missing

That same piece would work on the glass likely , just upside down from the way we often use it . It may require one on each ..at least might be a short term fix til you get the right part .

Use caution, you don't want to slam the gate and break the glass .

Is it just bare glass?
If so, you need this.

No seal on tailgate.
It's not bare glass, there a black trim piece (plastic) at bottom edge of glass across the width. It's visible from outside. It has a lip on inside, toward tailgate, as if to accept a rubber seal.

OP
Some people will say you should remove the rear soft top brackets.
Some will say they help hold the window shut.
