I tried to install a new seal where the window meets the hardtop opening and it appears to be too long by about 2in. Are these seals supposed to be cut shorter or am I installing wrong?

That doesn't look right at either end.
I would mark the center of the window opening and the center of the seal and re-install from the center out to see if that helps.

Tried going center out didn't do much just evened out the amount overhanging but that kept me from closing window. What actually worked was the opposite, install the ends first and then slowly press it in from both ends. I guess it scrunched up enough to fit.

Fits much better. I think I also need to replace the seal on the bottom of the window too for a more complete seal.
