My headlights stopped working with the switch, but when I pull back on it, the brights come on, for some reason when you let go of the lever they go off and no lights. Fuses are OK, wondering if it’s just the switch mechanism I need to replace? Any help out there?

Probably a bad MFS. If you wanted to verify, unplug the MFS, and “be the switch” by jumping power to the low beam wires and see if your head lights come on. If they light up, it’s your switch. If they don’t, the hunt continues.

I see you’re in Indiana so the green crusties can’t be ruled out. A bad ground could easily cause this too. Just gotta investigate a little to rule things out.

Exact same thing happened on my XJ. I had to hold the lever on the 10 miles trip home at 3am. Replaced the multifunction switch and all was well again.
p.s. I like your retro looking decals and wheels. (y) (y)
