Heated Seat Recommendations

I've used these on my last three Jeeps. I've definitely been pleased with them, especially for the price.

Amazon WATERCARBON Kit

I don't use my 12V outlets since my head unit charges my phone when I use CarPlay, so I utilized those holes for my switches. I didn't want to place them in the center console and I'm planning on installing in-cab winch controls on the blank panel to the right of the switch panel. They only drawback is that it's difficult to see them when driving, but the LEDs are bright so not having them in the direct line of sight is actually beneficial at night.

I have always been a bit against drilling into the plastic but have an amenity in the jeep is huge!

I was thinking of wiring up a switch in the blank area. I would have to run both heaters off one switch because I only have one slot open (hardtop switches) and would probably only to be able to have one setting (HI).

Currently, the switches are sitting loose under the transmission shifter bezel but it pops off easily so access. I don’t use the seat heaters much, being as it is no longer my daily driver.

Before that, I had drilled holes in the console in front of the parking brake lever. Ended up throwing out that front console. Nobody else wanted one that was painted silver and had holes drilled in it either.

Just installed the pads but have not wired them yet. Did you take the console out or just drill the holes with it in place? As far as I have seen there is nothing besides open space on the other side.

Taking the console out is pretty easy if you have the two piece design like I have in my 06.

My 98 has the one piece but it isn't particularly hard to take out either Ive done it before but if it was not necessary I for sure didn’t want to.

I put Dorman kits in my LJ and XJ. The part # is DORMAN 628-040 and you need one kit for each seat. Each kit has a seat and back warmer (2 separate pcs.) and the required wiring and switches. I've been very happy with them.

I got the first set off of Amazon. I couldn't get the second set there, but Rock Auto had them.

I bought Wet Okole, neoprene seat covers w/ heaters and lumbar, then wired them into switches on the console.
They were expensive, but we needed covers anyway and the heaters were only $60 more.

I spent another $60 or so for switches, relays, etc. to wire them into the Jeep instead of using the 12V aux plug that they came with.

I bought the first sets from Amazon in Feb 2019 for $58 ea. CDN and the second sets from Rock Auto in Aug 2021 for $54 ea. That would be about $42 US.

One thing I didn't like about the Dorman kits was the fuse taps. They looked flimsy so I switched them out for something I was more familiar with.

I am. I've had OEM seat heaters that I think were hotter and more adjustable (Mercedes & Volvo) but these have been plenty hot enough.

Thank you, just found them on RockAuto, $40 a seat. Seems like a good price. Looks like everything is included. I assume easy to install with the stock seats?

For my LJ & XJ, I put them into Hyundai Tiburon seats that I swapped in for the OEM Jeep seats. Both sets are leather seats. I haven't installed seat heaters in OEM TJ seats but I think they might be a bit easier as the materials are softer. The ones I did were easy and I'm sure TJ seats would be at least as easy.

I bought an inexpensive set on Amazon and the died immediately. Should have used the Bartact kit from the start. Heated seats are amazing, I use them every day. They are in my top three comfort mods (seat warmers, seat risers and short shifter).

Lights or heated seats? No questions asked.. Do the lights. Hella RetroBright LEDs for me. Love them.

I sorted lights out right away. Took me about a year before I installed the seat warmers.

On my last JK I swapped in IPF H4's. Far superior to stock

On my TJ I went from chinesium $10 click bait installed by the PO, to a set of the Amazon TruckLite knockoffs LEDs so many folks here seem to love, to the Toyo Koito H4s with 80/100 and then finally to the Holley LEDs.
