Back to this, I hate to keep blistering with questions, but you guys are awesome and im having trouble

I installed my compressor, no problems. Just need to wire it and plumb lines. I am trying to get a list to gather for what I need fittings/parts wise. I have heard that the threads on the intake/discharge are 1/2" NPT but I went to ace to get some fittings and they ended up being 3/4 so I'm not sure if mine is different or what. I am not going to be using an air tank or lockers. If you guys can tell me what I need/don't need i'd appreciate it, thanks.

Parts I need:
1/2" (3/4"?) -NPT elbows for York intake/discharge ports- am trying to find the ones that are shaped like a T or the ones that also screw into the york like so

IMG_1236.jpg

Manifold block- what size, how big threads?

Oil water separator: ordered from ORO

Air cooler: Not required but I'm going to use a small power steering cooler

Pressure discharge/relieve valve, this one okay?

Air line: I got 12' of heater core hose (roughly 1/2-3/4" diameter) I think that will work-also will get hose clamps

Other fittings needed-not sure, ill buy them as I install

Cant seem to find a wiring kit for the york on ORO's website, Ill give Steve a call tomorrow

Skip the power steering cooler and skip the heater hose. Keep it simple.

for the fittings what style head is on your york?

Just draw it out on paper to figure out what couplers & hose ends you need.

I ended up using -8 AN PTFE stainless steel braid from Summit Tools. This is 1/2" diameter which is probably overkill but it fills my tires really fast! PTFE has a higher temp rating and is oil safe.

Summit then has screw on hose ends in various male/female NPT sizes. If you use PTFE you need to use their special PFTE fittings.

I used the flange fittings from C U Offroad which were 1/2 NPT male.

Air intake filter, pressure switch, guages and manifold were from McMaster Carr.

Draw out your manifold to figure out how many plugs you need to buy.

I highly recommend the Milton 5 in 1 Safety Exhaust Coupler. It makes it super easy to connect/disconnect the pressurized line.

Some pics....

Here is KIlby's manual on installing OBA. Just like many other things there is going to different versions of the proper way to install OBA.

Here is a typical setup in a layout.

You want a unloader/check valve like this also so that when it shuts off it takes the pressure off the compressor head.

While a little expensive it works well. You need some type of hi temp hose coming off the discharge side and the one ORO sells fits the bill.

Do you have the fittings for the top of the compressor yet? Is your York the new one from ORO? I might have the fittings you need for the top of the York. Send me a picture of your York head.

Manifold block- what size, how big threads?

Thread size- Same size as you're using for air line & # of ports depends on what you want to install.

Oil water separator: ordered from ORO

Air cooler: Not required but I'm going to use a small power steering cooler

As already said you don't need a cooler. The discharge line that I linked from ORO is what you need for proper cooling.

Pressure discharge/relieve valve, this one okay?

That's the pressure switch. I linked a check/unloader valve in my above post.

Air line: I got 12' of heater core hose (roughly 1/2-3/4" diameter) I think that will work-also will get hose clamps

3/8" line is as big as you need. And as Lou said I'd use DOT air line.

or 1/4" as this seems to be what most of the manifolds are size wise.

When I redo my OBA system I'm going to use 1/4" or 3/8" line. You don't need anything larger.

Other fittings needed-not sure, ill buy them as I install

You also need a pressure relief valve.

If you got with DOT air line then also use the push to connect type fittings. These make servicing your OBA system so much easier too. Fittings like this. Just for example ignore the size.

I think @Alex01 or @DrDmoney has a nice little wiring diagram in their build thread for how they wired the compressor clutch. It's a single wire and you run it thru the pressure switch so that is what cuts off the power. I think they both installed underhood switches since they had to pop the hood to get to air chucks.
I have mine wired on my dash but with the ORO AiRock I need a little more control over my OBA. I also have air chucks on my front and rear for air up tires easier. And I have a air gauge on my dash but I'm also running a tank for the AiRock.

Hope this helps some.

As above, 3/8" is what you want. Any 1/4" fittings accidently inserted will restrict its CFM. Make sure whatever is connected to the York's output port is highly heat resistant as the air coming out of there is HOT! I used regular air line hose and it melted/blew within the first couple uses of the York system. I ended up finding some high-temperature resistant Goodyear hydraulic hose that worked really well there. It's reddish in color, I'd look in your local hydraulic hose shop. You won't find that kind of hose in an auto parts or hardware store.

Ill skip those mentioned above, how do I know what head I have?

You need the RotoLoc fittings and they are $52 a pair on CU Off-Road

I have a pair of the bolt on style that I don't need any longer. Bummer it's not the type you have.

A good thread on setting up OBA

Have you done the mods to your York to help stop all the oil from being blown out?

https://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/york_mod/index.asp

When I plugged the hole to fix the oil spew, it already had oil in the two spots. Should take about 6-8oz of oil I believe
The two large cavities you can see with the head off are essentially the intake and exhaust manifolds. The important place for the oil to be is the crankcase. I fully drained mine and then added 6 oz to the crankcase through the small bolt on the side. Haven’t had any oil carryover yet.
