I have an OE style dome light switch I want to wire to the #4 fuse. I've made a harness similar to the qtec style to plug into the fuse box. The switch has 3 wires, hot(red), ground(black), and the load out (white). I have read different threads about which wires to use. Some say the black and white, some red and white, some red and black...

Some advice from someone that's wired this would be great. And has anyone figured out a way to have the light actually function but only when the Jeep is running? I don't want it on constantly. Perhaps being able to connect to a switched power for the light?

Thanks 80027

Can't be done without using a relay.

You can use the switch to control the fuse circuit but not get the idiot light on the switch too.

Use the red and white for switching.

Yes, I've tried. 10 ways to Sunday...

One of the guys here was kind enough to send me this. I had lost the wiring diagram. Not sure if that was what you meant, but here you go.

The far left pin would have been used for the dash instrumentation light, which these switches do not have.
