I just finish watching this series and these guys did the wrong build on the "Search and Restore". I've watch many of the mechanics featured on this series from other shows and this is the All Star of Power block group. Any case it's a cool build regardless because they put the best equipment you can buy and build for the Jeep TJ model.

I think Search and Restore just took this father's daily driver and made it into a gas guzzling rock crawler. Some how I feel the dad need a more capable DD to drive to work and carry his family on a few dirt/rock trails.
What do you guys think? They got it right or wrong?

Just watched it. Thank you. Considering who he wheels with, I think they got it right regarding capabilities. Maybe not the color or the seating, lol, but definitely all the other elements of the build.

Looks like its probably streetable. If he buys a set of doors and saves his pennies for gas he should be good to go. Or he can buy a disposable econobeater for the daily commute.

I always cringe at those surprise remodel, renovation, rebuild, etc... things. I kinda hope it's all just for the camera and they really asked the dude what he wanted before tearing it apart.

So these shows do not give these parts for free. You still need pay taxes in the bill which I'm sure the parts alone are worth $40,000. That's about 5-9k which this family seems not to have. These shows never tell the back end story. Chip Foose show had so many builds which the owner couldn't afford the after the build. Many owners had to sell car their cars after the 1st year of ownership.
