Hidden Jeep Danger

And easier of your steering column, which, after all, is not intended to be used as a grab handle and pulled sideways every time we get in and out of our jeeps

I’ve been driving my TJ everyday since I bought it brand new in 2005. And I have never had this problem.

I've never had issues getting in, I usually just swing my right leg in and then hop in, along with a tug on the steering wheel if necessary. I'm 6' tall, and 16, which is probably why I can just hop in
I'm tall and pretty nimble, but I think my chair was kicked all the way back each time that it nailed me swinging in the cab. It's a high step getting in my Jeep, and all of my weight was thrown onto that little solid piece of steel right were it hurt :/

I ripped belt loops on two pairs of shorts. Only have done it jumping in and out while working on it, but never just getting in an out to drive it. Not sure what the difference is.

Has never happened to me but I have hit my funny bone on it once (not f'ing funny btw).

I'm curious though, when this happens are you getting in or out? I have these GraBar handles that I use and never even come close to the door striker.
X2. 6'1", 210. 3 1/2" lift. Never had an issue. I think the GraBar puts you in a position that helps to avoids it. They make it so much easier to get in and out.

Never had this problem on a TJ, But I lost many a belt loop on my Dad’s YJ in my teens. The YJ’s had more of a post with a lip at the end that seemed designed with belt loop removal as a feature.

I literally hang on my roll bar handles as I get in and out until I'm positioned for entry or exit. One of the best add ons ever!View attachment 34681
Don't let em get old. I was jumping in the passanger side of a friend's jeep and it ripped off when I was trying to convert my upward momentum into forward momentum using my one leg in the jeep as a pivot. I ended up hopping once, realizing I wasn't going to be able to get my foot back in time, then turning and doing a full superman on the ground beside the jeep... Yah couldn't touch anything with my knees for weeks after that.

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.

That beauty has ripped just about every belt loop on my pants. Same belt loop every time. And my seltbelt gets sandwiches between the door and that
You know, I have been purchasing Wrangler Riggs cargo pants for work, I like all the pockets, but the same belt loop on almost all of them has ripped loose on the bottom. Now I know why.

Not sure what I'm doing differently but I haven't even touched the door strike plate. I'm 6' 2" 195lbs. so I don't think it's height or size. Dumb luck is my guess.
