Hood compatibility

Part of my project 2000 TJ will be to replace the hood and driver fender that was heavily damaged prior to me aquiring. From all I can tell a 97-2006 all had the same hoods. Can a later model Wrangler hood say in the 2019 vintage be made to work on a 2000TJ? or are they that much different.

I have a lead on one that is darn near free with a small dent. Picture wise it looks near identical except the area where the washer nozzles mount.

No. You need a ‘97-06 TJ hood

2019 is not JK, but JL. Jl hood is aluminum, so not easy to modify... but with enough money anything is possible...

The differences I'm aware of are the early 97s had a different latch and 97-98 had two washer nozzles rather than one.

I have a '97 hood installed on my '05. This is correct.

I put a Y in the washer line to accommodate the two nozzles in the '97 hood. The latch is a bit trickier, because in 97' the latch is in the grille, whereas in later years it's mounted to the hood. There is a spot on the '97 hood that you can install the later-model latch and make it work. It requires drilling a hole and optionally (ideally) popping a rectangular locator notch for the latch into the inner layer of sheet metal.

I got a '97 hood cheap, and couldn't find a later-model hood to fit... so I made it work. The other option was to install the '97 grille I have... but that would have been way more work along with what's been called "mental gymnastics."

My 2000 has 2 nozzles, I believe that changed in 03 with the model refresh.
