How bad is this damaged wheel stud?

How bad is this situation? The rear tires hadn't been removed in over a year. I sprayed kroil here and there for almost month. I went to remove my rear lugs and like an idiot I had already jacked up the jeep before cracking them loose. Only 8 came out with an impact gun and they were very tough I had to work them out. The impact loosened them enough so I could spray more kroil into the crack, lots of grime coming out. The other two I had to drop the jeep back on the ground and use a breaker bar with my jack handle as cheater. They both made an alarming crack noise. Now one of the two studs I did that to looks like it lost two threads at the top. I can't find any evidence that I did this. Then again tons of grime and crap came out of the lugs. The lugs thread onto the stud fine, but my issue is the lug will probably be too loose. I don't know if the rear studs are longer, but up front I'm using opened end lugs set to 90 pounds with anti seize, and there's hardly any threads showing. If the stud length is the same in the rear then my one lug will be sitting loosely.

I know I can just install a new hub, but I'm trying to avoid that. I'm not at the point where I feel confident to do hubs/wheel bearings/u joints etc. If I was going to remove the hub I would do everything at once.

Bad studs can be replaced separately, no need to replace the drum.

But after cleaning the threads up with a 1/2x20 thread chaser (die) and perhaps applying a bit of antiseize onto the threads, I'd continue using them as-is. If that broken thread has you worried, you can always use an ET (extended thread) lugnut whose threads extended further down and slightly into the stud opening in the wheel.

I was actually looking at a thread chaser, I assumed it would be like a band aid on a bullet wound, but now I'm gonna give it a try. I forgot the studs can be replaced individually.

I have already purchased 23 short lugs (1/2-20-.84) and covers, but wow I had no idea about using extended thread lugs. That will be a real life saver if things don't work out. Thank you!

I think you're in fine shape. I recently bought a thread chaser off amazon for about 8 bucks. I had a bad one on the rear as well.

Honestly I'm still wrapping my head around how the thread chaser is going to work, but I guess I'll see, I did order some. Jeep is gonna be on stands for a looong time anyways as I attempt to drop the tank and wire brush and needlescale down the rear suspension, frame, floorboards.

Maybe one of the po's damaged the stud trying to get the drum brakes off?? I took the drum brake covers out after some hammering and they seem fine. 2006, 104k miles. The hubs seem to have a bit of back and forth play, but I read that that's normal on a dana 35.

Not only normal but required so the c-clips can be removed when needed.
