If it's an automatic you have a 32RH, if it's a manual, you have a NV3550.

The 32RH is the same as the 30RH in that it has to be warmed up and shifted into Neutral with the engine running so the ATF pump will run and give an accurate ATF level. The 32RH also can't be checked in Park since it's transmission pump doesn't run in Park.

Yes, but make sure the engine is running during the level check as Chris indicated above. Also, it would be very good for everyone if you included more details about your Jeep in your Profile.
Details about the Jeep? They're needed if you ever need help with a technical issue. Few questions can be answered without knowing at least the basics... model year, engine size, transmission type, tire size, etc. We're not asking for your address, VIN#, combination to you garage door etc. lol.
Minor correction that I have also gotten wrong just about every time: the pump is driven by the engine, so it is always running. The manual valve blocks a certain flow path when in park that causes the fluid level to not give a true reading. For all intents and purposes, this only ever comes up in conversation around checking the level, so it really doesn't matter. But this tiny bit of misinformation has been spread far and wide by everyone ESPECIALLY me, and it's time to work on setting the record straight.
Well ackshully.....The sonnax instructions for this valve replacement actually state that while it fixes some flow problems in park, reading the level in neutral is still necessary.
