How do I remove this without messing anything else up!

It's the Spicer 2-86-418 Rubber Boot for the front 1310 driveshaft. Mine has a crack in it, and I'm rebuilding the driveshaft

They also have a tool to install the new one,but it cost more than the part
Thanks, yeah, the tool is $30. By the time I get done rebuilding and having it balanced it will be $230. What's the point? Just buy a brand new shaft for $300.

It looks like I can possibly install one without the tool, but I'm not 100% sure how it works. It looks like the tool fits outside the rubber boot and just strikes the edge of the steel ring. If I have a socket that will fit outside, it might work.

That’s just a seal, you should be able to pry it up easily and install a new one with the adapters in a C-clamp set. @tworley has done this more times recently than anyone and likely has tips.

Pop it off with a punch. They come off easy. If you can find a small piece of tubing the seal fits in it makes installing easy.

Yep pry it off carefully with a screwdriver. I have a ball joint adapter that fits perfectly over the new seal and I can tap it into place with small mallet

Hmmmmm.... Where have I heard that before... Lol
The sad thing is this probably won’t fix my vibes and I’ll still need hubs. 😬 and I don’t really want to be fooling with this. I have other Jeep’s I want to be fooling with.

Thanks for the help. I used a punch from underneath on one side and it popped right off. Took it to hardware store and found a PVC fitting that fit it almost perfectly. Will be good enough to get the new one on! Thanks!
